Forget saving the best for last. An amateur angler was hoping to catch a few fish during Vology's inshore fishing tournament sponsored by Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Veeam. But little did Jeanie Bishop know, she'd reel in what would be the first and largest fish anyone caught.
More than 30 new and experienced fishermen (and valued Vology customers) were invited to attend the exclusive event in Palm Harbor last Friday.
"As the HPE Partner Business Manager, I spend a lot of time in meetings and on conference calls," says Bishop. "Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity to sponsor a fishing tournament with Vology and Veeam, and I'm glad I did. We couldn't have asked for better weather. It was beautiful on the water, not to mention that my fishing team was THE BEST!"
Participants were separated into 12 teams. Their goal? Over the course of about four hours, catch three species of fish: trout, redfish, and snook. The winning team would be determined upon the biggest slam via length of the fish, in compliance with regulations from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission.
Boat nine, which consisted of Jeanie, Trudy, Mark and Allen, hooked the biggest slam – a whopping 81.5-inches. Each person from the winning team went home with bragging rights and a $100 gift card.
"I must admit, catching the first fish of the day, which was also the largest fish of the day, a 33.5-inch snook... topped it all off for me," says Bishop. "When can we do it again?"
As the results illustrate above, some anglers wrestled some big fish. While some boats were skunked, they still returned with plenty of tales to tell. Participants were able to share some of those stories while enjoying lunch at Ozona Blue Grilling Company.
